St. Tammany Parish is using sales tax revenues to fund drainage improvement projects.

For six years, the parish has been connecting creeks, rivers, bayous, and ditches to prevent stormwater from flooding homes and businesses. Drainage canals that had never been cleaned before are being dredged.

Parish officials say local infrastructure budgets have reached record levels in three of the past four years, funding roads as well as drainage projects.
