Under a proposed state law, Confederate monuments that have been taken down by local governments may find a new home in state parks.
The bill would transfer to the Office of State Parks any government-owned "historical statue or monument" removed from a public display since 2006.
The state office would be required to move the monument to a public place in a parish other than the one that removed it. Explanatory signs would be required as well.
The bill passed the House last week and now goes to the Senate.
