Louisiana state lawmakers are advancing a GOP-led redistricting effort that would eliminate one of two majority-Black congressional voting districts.
The state's Senate and Government Affairs Committee voted 4-3 along party lines earlier today after almost ten hours of deliberation.
Louisiana Senate Bill 121 could net Republicans a five to one majority in the U.S. House.
A floor vote on the legislation is expected in the state Senate on Thursday then it will head to the lower chamber for consideration.
