Former Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson will have to be arraigned at a later date after the judge recused himself on Friday.
Hutson and her former CFO Bianka Brown are both under indictment for malfeasance in office, fraud, and obstruction of justice.
The charges result from a ten-inmate jailbreak that happened a year ago.
Several other judges have also recused themselves from the case. If all the judges at Criminal Court decide to recuse themselves, the case may have to be tried in a different parish.
