An 18-year-old freshman on Tulane's golf team will make history when she plays in a men's amateur qualifier today.

Sophia Macias has been golfing since she was six.

She'll be the first woman to play in the men's amateur qualifier for the Louisiana Golf Association in its 107-year history.

Macias says Tulane regularly plays at English Turn Golf and Country Club, where the qualifier is taking place.

She golfed in several all-boys tournaments in high school, winning the Club Championship in 2023.
