Assault Suspect Wrongly Released From Orleans Parish Jail

The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office is trying to find an assault suspect who was mistakenly released from custody on Friday.

Officials say Dreion Williams was accidentally turned loose as a result of a clerical error at the jail, having to do with his bond.

Deputies went to the victim's home and found her safe. She told them Williams hadn't contacted her.

Deputies also went to Williams's last known address, but he wasn't there.

Williams is charged with battery, illegal possession of a gun by a felon, and aggravated assault with a gun.
