The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority will soon begin a national search for a new CEO.

Lona Edwards Hankins, who held the position with the RTA for three years, resigned Tuesday.

The RTA Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to accept Hankins's resignation amid questions about the agency's operations.

The board named Ronald Baptiste, the RTA's director of procurement and grants, as the interim CEO until a permanent leader can be found.
