The proposed Louisiana congressional map is on its way back to the state Senate after the House approved it on Thursday.
House members passed Senate Bill 121 by a vote of 66-35.
A House committee amended the Senate map, and the two chambers will have to work out the differences.
The redistricting effort follows a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that struck down the state's congressional map because of unconstitutional racial gerrymandering.
The proposed map would reduce Louisiana's number of majority-black congressional districts from two to one.
