No injuries are reported after an underground electrical transformer exploded and caught fire on Bourbon Street over the weekend.
Fire crews, police, and Entergy New Orleans responded around 10:30 p.m. Saturday to the scene after the explosion started a fire in the roadway near Conti Street.
Bourbon Street and the surrounding blocks were closed and evacuated while emergency crews worked the scene.
The blast caused a local power outage, but Entergy says the power had been restored by early Sunday morning.
