Installation of smart water meters is continuing in Jefferson Parish.
Officials with the Water Department said Tuesday that the meters have been installed for about 84,000 of the parish's 160,000 customers.
The project started last year and was put on hold over the weekend after a state licensing board hit the contractor installing the meters with a cease-and-desist.
A company official says it was an administrative matter that didn't involve the quality, safety or performance of the installations.
