Tropical Storm Bertha is getting weaker as it approaches the Louisiana coast, with maximum sustained winds down to 50 miles per hour as of the 7am Wednesday advisory.
"Minor to moderate impacts are still expected, mainly along the immediate coast. Biggest change is the continued decrease flooding rain threat. As expected the bulk of the rain is well south and southwest of the center," said the National Weather Service office in Slidell in a Facebook post.
There is also an extreme heat warning for most of southeast Louisiana today, including areas that are also under either a tropical storm warning or watch.
"We have dug through the records and as far as we can tell this is the first time this has ever happened," said the NWS.
