Louisiana workers log some of the longest hours in the country.

A new WalletHub study released Monday ties Louisiana with Texas for the nation's second-longest average workweek, trailing only Alaska.

Heavy weekly schedules mean local employees spend significantly more time on the job than workers in most states.

But despite that on-the-clock grind, Louisiana ranked 22nd overall in the group's hardest-working states report, while also ranking near the bottom nationally for volunteer hours.

Analysts at the financial firm note the average workweek carried the highest weight in their analysis.
