Letlow Defeats Davis For U.S. Senate Seat

Republican U.S. Representative Julia Letlow is now the first Republican woman elected to the Senate from Louisiana.

Letlow narrowly defeated Democrat Jamie Davis in Tuesday's midterms, by a margin of 51% to 49% of the vote.

She'll be the second female U.S. Senator from Louisiana, following Democrat Mary Landrieu.

Letlow replaces GOP Senator Bill Cassidy, who lost his party's primary earlier in the year.

Davis conceded the race on Wednesday afternoon.
