A sacrificial goat that miraculously survived a car crash, an odd tower spotted in a Google Maps image of Area 51, and a curious cattle mutilation case in Montana were among the weird and wondrous stories to cross our desk this past week.
A curious cattle mutilation in Montana raised eyebrows this past week as it was undoubtedly committed by a person, yet bore the hallmarks of the mysterious phenomenon that has puzzled researchers for decades. At the center of the gruesome incident was a cow that was slain at a ranch near the town of Big Sandy. As in countless cattle mutilation cases in the past, the unfortunate animal had only its tongue removed and its jaw skinned. However, in this instance, aliens are in the clear because the cow was shot with a gun. With the oddly specific condition of the creature after it was killed mirroring the infamous phenomenon, one is left to wonder if and how the incident might be connected to the cattle mutilation mystery.

A pair of peculiar pictures that piqued the interest of paranormal enthusiasts popped up in the news this past week. First, a striking Google Maps photo of an intriguing tower at Area 51 spread like wildfire online. The picture elicited all manner of theories as to why the mysterious monolith was at the secretive military base. However, the structure has actually been known by researchers for years and is believed to be used for radar testing of stealth aircraft. Later in the week, a security guard at a Venezuelan hospital snapped a fantastic picture of a suspected ghost lingering in a hallway. The creepy figure clad in white with long dark hair over its face drew comparisons to the vengeful spirit from the film series "The Ring."

Easily the eeriest story of the week came by way of India where a goat at the center of symbolic sacrifice wound up miraculously surviving a deadly crash. Shortly before the accident that landed the animal in the headlines, the creature had its ear severed in a ceremony at a nearby temple. Following the ritual, a family heading home with the goat careened over a bridge in their SUV with the vehicle landing in a dry river bed. When the dust settled, four people died in the terrible accident with another two passengers needing serious medical attention for their injuries. However, to the astonishment of first responders, walking away from the crash completely unscathed was the one-eared goat.
