Beryl Forecast To Be Hurricane Before Texas Landfall

Texas is bracing for Tropical Storm Beryl's expected arrival as a hurricane by early Monday.

A hurricane watch is in effect for the Texas coast from the mouth of the Rio Grande northward to St. Luis Pass.

The National Hurricane Center expects the storm to strengthen as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico and approaches southern Texas Sunday night.

Forecasters are warning of heavy rainfall and flash flooding along its path. Storm surges could range anywhere from 3-5 feet from Corpus Christi to Galveston Bay.

The NHC also warns of a rip current threat for much of the Gulf Coast through the rest of the weekend.
