By order of Governor Jeff Landry, a State of Emergency is in effect because of the threat of winter weather.
Landry issued the declaration on Saturday, saying that the State of Emergency allows for direct assistance at the parish level, if it's needed.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for South Louisiana all day Tuesday, from midnight to midnight.
Significant snowfall is in the forecast starting before dawn on Tuesday and continuing until Tuesday evening.
Landry advised residents to watch the forecast.
