Atlantic Stirs With Tropical Wave Expected

After a relatively quiet period during the peak of the hurricane season, the tropical Atlantic is showing signs of life.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center are turning their attention to the tropical Atlantic Ocean for the next couple of days, though development chances are on the low end for now. There is also no immediate threat to land.

Here's what the NHC had to say on possible development as of Thursday morning.

Eastern and Central Tropical Atlantic:

A tropical wave is forecast to emerge offshore of west Africa by Friday. Environmental conditions could support some slow development of the system over the weekend into early next week as the wave moves to the west or west-northwest at about 15 mph over the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.

The next name on the list would be Gabrielle. Hurricane season runs through November 30.
