Tropical Storm Bertha is moving along the Gulf coast.
The latest update from the National Hurricane Center puts the storm about 100 miles south-southwest of Panama City, Florida, heading northwest with maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour.
Bertha could bring heavy rain, winds, rip currents and storm surge to the region as it moves along the coast.
The impacts could reach Louisiana tonight into early Wednesday.
"Bertha is forecast to bring the threat of tropical storm force wind gusts, locally heavy rainfall generally south of I-10, and storm surge. The coastal areas of Mississippi and southeast Louisiana will have the greatest threat, especially along and south of I-10," said the National Weather Service Office in Slidell.
"Tropical Storm Warnings remain in effect from the Florida/Alabama border west to the Mouth of the Mississippi River. Tropical Storm Watches have been issued from the Mouth of the Mississippi River to Morgan City, Louisiana. Additionally, Tropical Storm Watches remain in effect for the City of New Orleans including Lake Pontchartrain and Maurepas as well as inland coastal Mississippi Counties of Jackson, Harrison, and Hancock," the NWS added.
