Tropical Storm Cristobal formed over the Atlantic Ocean Wednesday morning nearly 900 miles west of the Azores.
Cristobal is expected to be a short-lived system. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center expect the storm will slowly weaken before dissipating by Thursday.
The NHC continues to watch two other areas of interest in the tropical Atlantic. One, a tropical wave moving west-northwestward, could become a tropical depression in the coming days. The next name would be Dolly.
Another tropical wave just offshore Africa has a low chance of further development.
There is no immediate threat to the Gulf Coast from either system.
