Arrests Made In Connection To Animal Abuse Of Dog In St. Tammany Parish

Three people are facing charges of animal cruelty in connection to the torture of a dog last week in Slidell.

Police said yesterday they had arrested a 17-year-old teen and her mother for animal cruelty along with another teenager who admitted to abandoning the dog at a mobile home park.

The dog, named Buddy, was discovered last week near death with gunshot wounds and its hind legs sawed-off and is now recovering under the care of Dante's Hope Animal Rescue East.

WARNING: This story contains graphic descriptions of animal torture.

Officials say Buddy was shot back in February and the teen and her mother failed to seek proper medical treatment for the dog leading to someone trying to amputate the dog's legs when they got infected.
