Mayor Cantrell Threatens Harsh Penalties For Stay Home Mandate

Mayor LaToya Cantrell is doubling down on orders for city residents to stay home amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday, Mayor Cantrell said the city will swiftly penalize those who don't comply to the stay-at-home mandate.

Officials say police could also arrest people who continue to ignore the orders to avoid gathering in large groups.

Cantrell's comments came the same day police arrested the organizer of a Mid-City second line that drew a big crowd on Saturday.
