The suspect accused of setting fires to three historically black churches is being denied bond.
According to the clerk of court's office in St. Landry's Parish, 21-year-old Holden Matthews entered a plea of not guilty through via video conference from jail.
Bail was allegedly denied as law enforcement officials say they were worried Matthews was a flight risk or that he may try to set more fires. The judge set a trial date for September.
Prosecutors are declaring the arsons a hate crime.
