State health officials say they continue to be cautiously optimistic that social distancing measures are working to plateau the coronavirus outbreak.
According to yesterday's update, in the past 31 days since the virus was confirmed in Louisiana, 702 people have died, over 2,000 have been hospitalized, and just under 87,000 people have been tested.
Governor Edwards again said projection models point to the curve flattening because even though deaths continue, new cases are slowing, and hospital resources are no longer being strained.
Edwards also said there is a good chance schools will not reopen and remain closed for the rest of the academic year.
