Landry Leads Governor's Race In Campaign Cash On Hand

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry leads the field in the 2023 race for governor when it comes to campaign cash.

Campaign finance reports filed on Wednesday show Landry's war chest contains $5 million in available funds.

Landry also has the backing of the state GOP.

His closest rival in terms of cash is state Treasurer John Schroder, with more than $2 million.

State Senator Sharon Hewitt has more than $600,000, and State Rep. Richard Nelson trails at less than $200,000.

Independent candidate Hunter Lundy's war chest holds $1.6 million.

No Democrat has yet declared a candidacy, though DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson could announce his soon after resigning from the department.
