Two former New Orleans mayors are opposed to the state's proposed new congressional map.

Marc Morial and Sidney Barthelemy spoke to the House Governmental Affairs Committee on Thursday. Both former mayors also served in the Louisiana Legislature.

They urged lawmakers not to eliminate either of the state's two black-majority congressional districts.

The U.S. Supreme Court recently declared Louisiana's district map unconstitutional because of race-based gerrymandering.
